I came across a fellow indie (independent) author yesterday on social media who was absolutely thrilled to have published her first book, but the excitement wore off quickly when no one turned up to her launch day.

Non-fiction and fiction indie authors, work incredibly hard to write, to get their stories out there. In my own case it was born out of necessity, so I could understand my experiences around a disability I didn't know I had.

My 13 year platform

I have a 13 year platform. In the 6 years before I started writing my first book, my website was incredibly successful. After writing my first book Cerebral Palsy: 'A Story' and a further two books since then, I have met with similar responses.

The Book Industry has changed

While everything started to turn sour at Brexit, the pandemic hasn't helped and indie authors don't get a good press. The industry is changed. Indie authors aren't looking for preferential treatment around their books, so if you come across a book that's written by an indie author and you like their work, give them a chance and buy their books.

Our writing Dreams

I have a friend who if the reviews are good will buy the book, thankfully she's not bothered for the celebrity tag. For indie authors that is a dream. Please give indie authors a chance, so that they can turn their fortunes around.

Are you an indie author? Do you feel you have no voice? Are you struggling to get your voice out there? If you are, it would be great to hear from you.

  1. The publishing industry has changed. It was always hard for an independent author to publish, but it is now almost impossible.
