“Hurt people hurt people.” For those people who are meanspirited and who hurt people, they are not pleasant to be around.

Meanspiritedness

Someone who is meanspirited is ungenerous, mean, petty and unwilling to forgive. If this behaviour is allowed to continue, meanspirited people may also bring emotional harm to others. The universe will always judge people doing things that are deliberately spiteful, unfavourably.

Not caring about what others think

Being meanspirited is often linked to a troubled past. Where we rely on our experiences, our past and our environment, those things shape who we become. Meanspirited people don't always outwardly care what others think.

While on occasions we may have been mean at times, those who are continually mean can become spiteful, although they may not believe they are being mean, they’re just being honest. Those who are meanspirited don't always care what others think, which in itself is a problem.

How we interact matters

It is important to find ways of interacting with like-minded people who are kind, respectful and considerate. In stressful times we don't always stop to think how we are. Where we may not think we are meanspirited, those on the receiving end will know.

Environment defines

Underneath there is always a different version of ourselves. We're not born meanspirited, our environment very much defines our personalities. When we are able to stand back on ourselves, we can start to heal and change.

Staying present is very much what is needed, the more present we are, the more we will be in control of how we present to the world.

  1. My path has crossed with meanspirited people in the past, with varying consequences.

Nowadays, I am more discerning with whom I spend my time and I give them a wide berth and send them packing.

    1. Thanks. Yes, quite. Any behaviour that leaves another person feeling upset, irritated, and angry needs addressing.

Although being meanspirited isn't classed as a mental health issue, when you're on the receiving end of it and it begins to change how you see and feel about yourself, it's time to change who you spend your time with.

  2. Unfortunately, mean-spiritedness is quite common today, as you see people exchanging mean looks and spewing insults regularly, civility is fading fast.

But blogs like this encourage healthy social functioning. I implore your readers to join this discussion and others. The CP Diary will fill you with profound calm.

    1. Thanks Tim. I will always put the truth out there and would always welcome people to join in with the discussions on my website.

I agree with you, mean-spiritedness is becoming quite common in today's society often fuelled by narrow minded self-centred political ideology.

It is good for our health and important to read and get our views out, in these difficult and uncertain times.
