The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines health as ‘a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.’

Good physical health is linked to fitness, emotional health is linked to personal wellbeing, feeling positive about yourself and in turn feeling positive about others.

Good emotional health means managing our emotions, recognising and managing the factors that affect emotions and being able to express how we feel. Lifestyle factors can influence the state of our mental and physical wellbeing.

Mental and physical wellbeing aren't separate. Poor physical health can lead to an increase of us developing mental health problems. Similarly, poor mental health can have an impact on our physical health, so leading to an increased risk of disease.

It is important to think about mental and physical wellbeing and work on both simultaneously. We can't expect to be physically well if our mental state is poor.

  1. We need to balance all elements of our bodies so that we are well as a whole.

As you say, we can't separate our physical and mental wellbeing and you are guiding us towards a healthy lifestyle.

    1. Yes, my website started out as something for me to vent on. With me having a disability, it makes it doubly important for me to make sure my lifestyle is healthy.

The physical and mental side go hand in hand. If you're struggling with your mental health, physically you will begin to struggle. A healthy mind is a healthy body.

It is our mental health that invariably lets us down.
