Alarming headlines... "Mental Health referrals for children soar by 53% in England."

The Headlines continue

"NHS figures show more than 600 mentally ill children a week are deteriorating to such a state that they have reached crisis point. There were 32,521 emergency and urgent referrals to child and adolescent mental health services crisis teams in 2022-23, analysis of official data by the Royal College of Psychiatrists revealed. In 2019-20, the year before the Covid pandemic, the figure was 21,242." (Source: theguardian.com)

Mental health issues clearly continue to be a significant concern for individuals and society as a whole. Despite increased awareness, many people are still struggling, including children, to receive the help and support they need around mental health issues. With autism, I continue to deal with mental health issues.

If you have a predisposition to mental health issues, without the help those issues will not go away. With the help you may reduce your anxiety associated with mental health and can learn to manage to cope better.

Increased Stress and Societal Pressures

Factors such as increased stress and societal pressures still contribute to the prevalence of mental health issues. Adult or child alike, mental health is worsening at an alarming rate. Additionally, in Covid-19 access to mental health services remain a challenge for many, leading to untreated mental health conditions and worsening symptoms.

Efforts to improve mental health

Efforts to improve mental health resources and support systems need to be a priority, but there is still more work to be done. It is important for individuals to prioritise their own mental wellbeing and seek help when needed. The NHS is still struggling to cope to help people access NHS mental health services.

Politicians need to work to help people to access mental health care. They also need to talk about mental health and the stigmas associated with mental health, so that they help break down the stigmas of mental health. It is clear from the stats, mental health needs a lot of work. What is it going to take to be serious about mental health, to deal with mental health?

Working on our own mental health

By us individually working on our own mental health, we can prioritise and help create a more supportive and inclusive environment, to ensure that others have the support they need to live healthy lives. It is important to continue to advocate for mental health, to make it a priority, so that we can adapt into society better.
