The new Covid-19 vaccine is now available. We don't know yet just how well the new vaccine protects, or for how long.

For people who didn't take the first vaccine because it didn’t fit their needs, or they weren't sure about taking it, they may find they're not eligible for the second vaccine, because they don't fall within the 18-50 age bracket.

The vaccine has saved lives, but it was always going to be difficult to produce a vaccine that accommodated a virus that had the ability to mutate and grow. Time was of the essence, and scientists needed to understand fully what they were being presented with, so they could produce a vaccine that was more protecting. People have died from complications of taking the vaccine.

Reinfection of Covid-19

Those who are vaccinated, double jabbed and who have had their booster have become infected again. People are on their 4th vaccine. Initially, the Covid vaccine was there to help the world reduce and/or eradicate the virus; now we're being told we shall have to live with it and with precautionary measures lifted in the UK, cases are again rising and deaths are still being announced.

The announcement about the new vaccine, comes as health and social care services across the UK continue to struggle to cope with pandemic-related pressures.

Latest government data

Latest government data shows almost 20,000 people were in hospital with Covid-19 as of the second week of April, an increase of 37% on the same day last month. Meanwhile, in the last seven days, nearly 2000 people have died within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test, which is a 63% increase on the previous seven days. (Source: https://www.nursingtimes.net)

The chief executive of NHS Providers advised that the ongoing impact of Covid-19 from more patients with Covid-19 in hospital beds and staff off work with Covid-19 was leading to additional delayed discharges than anyone had predicted.

Conclusion

Where other countries are easing restrictions so that 'normal' life can resume, they are also asking people to be vigilant, to continue with precautionary measures where appropriate, to include masking up, social distancing and hand sanitising. (Source: wibc.com) In the UK, all precautionary measures have been removed.

  1. Along with this ridiculous notion that Covid is over, is this belief that we can live our lives as if it never existed.

We are evolving around something that is not the sun.

    1. Thanks. Yes, yes and yes. All of your notions are right, notions that will not only continue to see people get sick, but will allow the virus to continue to mutate.

I'm just wondering what it's going to take for the world to wake up and choose to want to do better.

Perhaps they need to hit rock bottom... it's clearly not come yet.

  2. Unfortunately Ilana, rock bottom is inevitable if we continue to dismiss the facts.

But I think we can get through this if people stop trying to change the world through lies and misinformation.

For some folks, if Covid didn't exist they would invent it, that's just the nature of the beast.

    1. Thanks Tim. Yes, I agree with you. This is one of the reasons I talk about these things on my blog. It helps reduce my anxiety. It is irritating when a select few spoil it for the many.

My own philosophy is not to rock the boat, and if it ain't broke don't fix it. Life is hard enough, it's important not to make it harder.

I just don't get what people don't see, or maybe it's a case of not wanting to see. It's the same old adage, we see what we want to see.

  3. Thank you for writing about these things on your blog. You bring insightful understanding to what is happening out there.

So it turns out the 'new' vaccine isn't available in the UK, whether you fit into the suggested age range or not, as the government hasn't ordered any, even though I understand the vaccine is manufactured in Scotland.

As all measures have now been dropped, it's not surprising we don't hear much about daily infection rates and deaths any more yet stats like those in your blog, confirm the virus is anything but over.

    1. Thank you. Yes, quite! My mental health around these emotive issues is in my 'boots' most days, so writing about these issues, help me find understanding and a place for them. I hope they help others too.

There are no words to describe what has happened and what is continuing to happen in the UK. I am now four-walled, because all restrictions have been lifted. There are many people like me out there, whose lives are also restricted.

I haven't found any new stats and as we both know, the virus isn't being spoken about, so currently there is very little to go on. Also, the independents are also struggling to get their voices heard.

In the meantime, I shall continue to write about the things that matter, the things that help me with my mental health.

  4. Ilana, when you write about mental health and personal responsibility it serves society as a whole.

Your blogs and your books invite people to think rationally in an effort for them to touch reality.

Like Brad, I am completely dismayed by our Covid predicament, it's like we're spending the night in hell on purpose.

But your contribution through literature has been heaven sent for all of us during these times.

That just needed to be said.

    1. Thanks Tim. Thank you for this. I am heartened and grateful that you have placed my blog 'into the history books' in the way that you have. Not only have you brought perspective on what I write and acknowledged my writing worth, but you have also acknowledged my credibility as a writer and author.

People will take what they want from my blog, depending on where they are at with their own mental health. What my blog and books do, is give them a platform to seek out their own truth, so they too can incorporate their own understandings on their experiences, so they too can change certain aspects of their life.

Ignoring our truth is something we do, quite often because our truth is too difficult to handle. But the facts and universal truths don't change, just because we choose to ignore them. It is important to work with our truth, so that we can change our lives.

I hope your response here, awakens people to their own realities and hope they will seek out my books Cerebral Palsy: 'A Story' and 'Spirituality, Healing and Me.'

Turning to the pandemic, what we're seeing through decisions that have been taken, is ignorance on a massive scale. I only hope politicians get to pull back, before there is nothing to pull back to.
