I've had lots of things to deal with over the years. Physical issues that have tested my resolve, and mental health. But my biggest fight has to be living with neuralgia pain. Every day is a physical, mental and emotional challenge.
My challenges started with muscle tightness at the left side of my mouth, my cerebral palsy side, which I believe is linked to the stroke I had before I was born, to the myelin nerve. I am taking a myelin nerve supplement which has helped and is continuing to help reduce the pain and heal the nerve.
The Myelin Sheath nerve supplement
The myelin sheath nerve supplements wouldn't help, if it wasn't the myelin nerve that was damaged. When I first went to find out about a disability I didn't know I had, I went to see a neuro-consultant to get a diagnosis, who mentioned some of the difficulties of ageing with a stroke and cerebral palsy.
I think this was something that would always have been ear marked for me that it was my twin's illness and subsequent death that tipped my health. The tightness in the muscle on my cerebral palsy side has led to difficulties in chewing and pain.
The pain starts in my temple
The pain starts in the temple on my cerebral palsy side and travels down the face, as opposed to pain that starts in the jaw. I DON'T have popping, clicking or grinding noises when I move my jaw, or difficulty opening my mouth fully, or my jaw locking when I open my mouth, all of which are symptoms of TMJ. In a way TMJ would be easier because there is a cure. What I have isn't curable and is only manageable.
I DO have an appointment with a neuro-consultant in a couple of months. My stroke can't be ruled out and it may be suggested I need another MRI scan to see if my cerebral palsy has progressed. My dentist confirmed the symptoms, and basically said I should take painkillers for the pain, but failed to say what I had was temporary.
With your steely determination and resolve I am sure you will leave no stone unturned, in your endeavours to find help for this.
I hope you find some relief as soon as possible.
I'd love to feel better, currently I feel drained, with no sign of the nerve problem abating. I hope this isn't the shape of things to come, or I really am in trouble.
Luckily I tend to blog in advance, so have something to call upon. I would be grateful if my readers could continue to support and I will do my best to continue to write.
The fact that pain has never ruled you is an inspiration to all of us, but it's heartbreaking knowing that you're burdened with it.
I'm hoping for positive news from your neuroconsultant in a few months. Please keep us posted.
I'm not going to lie, it is a massive mental and physical struggle, I'm doing my best.
I will do, thanks Tim.
