When I started to put my cerebral palsy book together, I had no idea what form it would take. Not knowing I had a disability, what it was or what my symptoms were, it was important I brought them together in a safe, self-contained and non-judgmental way.

Using Reflection

Looking back on My Book, it would have been easy to focus on the negatives – to blame those responsible, to hold onto the difficulties, to see my experiences only through that lens. But what purpose would that have served? Reflection has shown me that healing comes not from dwelling on the past, but from understanding it.

As I continue to write, I explore spirituality as a key part of my healing journey. My second book follows on from Cerebral Palsy: A Story, but this time, it’s different. It’s a self-help book with a unique perspective – one that draws from personal experience of spirituality insight, and the lessons I have learned along the way.

Being 'spiritual' allows for growth

Being spiritual allows me to grow through my experiences without holding on to anger and bitterness. There are days I still struggle with the enormity of what I was made to live through. Spirituality helps me to come to terms with neglect, and trauma. It helps me to connect to myself, to my inner thoughts, to my inner wisdom, wisdom that helps to promote healing.

  1. Your book can be seen as a reference guide for mental and physical healing, as most of us already know.

It's your journey and ours, please don't forget that.

    1. Awww that's kind. I love that you think so. That's Absolutely right Tim. It's ALL our journeys.

We're ALL a team and we take the journey together.

  2. You have been such an inspiration to me. As for thinking about writing my own book that's as far as I have got.

Now if only I could get over that hurdle. I can't seem to begin to start writing, let alone get around to writing a whole book. It has been something I have wanted to do for such a long time.

I wanted to be a great and famous writer like Stephen King, but I would be thrilled just to have at least one book published. It looks like I will have to take the leap of faith to write, even if it never really amounts to anything.

    1. Thanks Randy. Yes, unless we know for sure, we never really know what we're capable of until we try.

If we try and it doesn't work out, then at least we've tried.
