Living every day with a condition we're born into, where there is no cure is like living with a cloud over our heads. Because I have and deal with Cerebral Palsy there is and will always be less certainty over my health. There is not enough information out there on organ health and Cerebral Palsy, which I know is affected.
It is common knowledge that anyone with Cerebral Palsy uses 3 to 5 times more energy than someone without the condition and couple that with sluggish organs, there could be concern as we age. My health has always been something I need to address daily, so I can stay reasonably well and keeping it up is the part I find enormously difficult.
It’s the not knowing from one day to another how well I will be that makes the whole thing difficult. There is no let up and that has a tendency to weigh me down. Keeping everything else I deal with together, whilst I deal with any health issues is difficult, not to mention slightly scary.
You will see brighter days Ilana, because your signature is on so many wonderful things.
This makes me feel so much better. Awww thank you.
I understand how you feel. I often worry how it will be for me in a few years, since I know my body goes through more tear and wear because of CP.
Thanks Maria. It's there as part of what we deal with. I know it is for me. I am determined though, to find out as much as I can to bring about more understanding on what we deal with.
In the meantime all we can do is make sure we look after our health as well as we can. Our lifestyle choices will determine how well we fair with the condition. I am sure that plays its part too in the Cerebral Palsy scenario.
