Looking back on my life, I see that my life was mapped out for me when I was born and there was nothing I could do to change it. It's been difficult.
Growing up, I was never going to know I had cerebral palsy, but I do remember her saying my birth was difficult and that was her legacy on a diagnosis.
Although I lived with mental struggles, I never thought about cerebral palsy until near to my mother's passing, because there was no point. I know on her passing I wanted to find out more on what I had been struggling with for all of those years.
From experiencing very little personal success growing up, I have now turned that around with my website and having gone back into studying on-line I now also have diplomas behind me.
Although I was never open as a child, I always wanted to talk about the things that mattered, the things I struggled with. The transition to writing came fairly easy.
I like you found out more information after my mother passed than I knew before.
My mother was pregnant for 6 1/2 months with me plus her water broke a week before I was born, (she was not aware that it had happened) Likely both contributed to me developing CP.
I wonder now how she felt when I was diagnosed. I suppose relief because they knew what it was. They had gone to many doctors.
No one knew what it was until one specialist who finally said I know what it is and how to treat it. Wonderful doctor gave me a quality of life I would not have had other wise.
I do wish you had had the chance to get some treatment when you were younger. It might have helped.
I know that if your mother could Randy, you probably would have known sooner, but you had the support and found out that you had CP; probably earlier than me! I had physiotherapy as a child though, but I'm not sure the physiotherapists even knew what I had or why.
I am pleased for you that you found a good doctor and got the help you needed.
Hope you continue to do well with your site and all that you seek to do.
Thanks Lisa.
Exactly! You are a great example of how someone can turn things around. Well done. 🙂
Thank you.
