Given my life experiences, I would have a right to be negative. However, instead of dwelling on the negativity, I have chosen a more spiritual path for myself.

Spirituality

Our spiritual beliefs can help us find understanding, where we may not have been able to see or understand. Spirituality is a road of self-discovery, recognising the deepest of values in the human spirit as opposed to material or physical things, so that we aspire to life in its simplest form, without complications, or negativity.

Spirituality is about giving without needing to receive, and about having inner peace. Through spirituality we may draw the smallest of things and look for the lessons we are shown, even if those lessons don’t always make sense to us. I know that my beliefs help me focus away from my physical form and that helps take away stress.

Testing beliefs

I have days where my beliefs are put to the test because of my upbringing, and my physical and mental difficulties, but I am drawn back like a magnet.

I don’t always understand my life, but as I continue to work with my intuition, my spiritual beliefs help me understand more of my experiences, so that I deal with less stress.

  1. I do believe in a higher power. I also believe things happen for a reason. I am not a religious person but I do believe in God. What I do not understand is why bad things happen to good people. That part of life I have not come to grips with. Sometimes people don't deserve what they get. Life sometimes is not fair. But I also believe you get out of life what you put in.

    1. Randy, there must be reasons why things happen to good people. It sometimes seems like that, but I know that in my mum's case, never having been to a doctor in her life, she wasn't coping emotionally and that is what I believe took her from us. Her inability to cope made her terminally ill.

On the outset of what we see, I believe there are bigger pictures, we don't get to know about them until we hear the news, but those people know what they deal with and why they struggle in the way they do. I think we may never understand fully, it's just something we need to accept.

  2. Through life's trials and tribulations it's faith and hope that is the guiding force that always leads me back to my spirituality in my darkest hours. I have given up trying to understand why things happen. I now choose to accept them as they come and prey for the guidance to carry me through. Great topic it really brought me back to my core beliefs. Thank you.

  3. I can always rely on prayer to get me through and my faith has gotten me through some really tough times. Without God I would really be a lost soul.

I believe God is there in every little detail and we won't understand his ways while we're here on this earth. I also believe God sends us angels to watch over us and help us. I believe some angels are our friends.

God sends people to help us get through the tough times and celebrate the good times. You're an angel Ilana. Your site helps lots of people. Great post!

  4. Giving back without expecting anything in return is the best! It brings me great joy to see others in a bight mood or even just being able to help others brings about another form of satisfaction. I am looking forward to being able to volunteer at the hospital once university starts up again.
