Writing my book Cerebral Palsy: A Story 'Finding the Calm after the Storm' was bring my back story to life, for the first time. Up to that point, I didn’t know I had a disability, what that meant, what my symptoms were, or how I presented.

My Story is Unique

Finding out about my disability late makes my story unique. I have also been told that writing from a universal perspective, makes what I write, unique.

Piecing my life together

I have had to work hard at piecing my experiences and my life together. I needed to understand how I presented, and for others to understand me.

It is important for me to rationale and understand my life and that is what my books do. Through a difficult life, it has taken me through the healing process, allowing me to put some of those demons to bed.

My Universal Book

It doesn’t matter what I deal with, my book is universal, therefore we can all relate to what I write. Writing from a universal standpoint I have been told, changes the way we perceive our lives.

  1. You do have a very unique story which I relate to in so many different ways. There were many different things that were glossed over when we were kids, which means they were never addressed.

I often wonder how things would have turned out if we would have had different parents, but that just makes me even more depressed than I usually am.

I thought that sharing your book with my daughter would have changed things between us, but that still hasn't happened. I can only hope and pray that things will get better in the future.

    1. Thanks Randy. I am genuinely pleased you can relate to 'my story' and do. It's easy to get into the 'what ifs' but as you rightly say the more you think about it, the more it makes you depressed.

We all have a right to have a voice, to be nurtured, to be cared for. What happened to you is not on you, it's on your parents.

Every time you respond on my website, you're sewing a seed and that seed blows into the universe, which your parents will pick up on.

You were strong enough to have these experiences, and those were earmarked for you long before you were born, in the same way mine were too.

Whilst neither of us could change our experiences, I believe like me, you're a fighter, and are determined to find solutions to some of your experiences.

  2. I often think about your story and wonder what a Hollywood Film Producer would make of it. I suspect disbelief would be the initial reaction.

We can all relate to the messages of resilience, positivity and hope in your book, no matter what we experience, and I would recommend it to everyone.

    1. Yes, it is funny you should say that, those have been my thoughts too! 'My Story' is unique, and it is the unique stories that makes the best movies!

Of course, it is only when you look back and work through your experiences that you understand. Everything I write brings my experiences to life.

I needed to understand, to know about my disability and to get to grips with my life. And that is exactly what I have done. It is as others will also have done. I am sure about that.
