"There are no regrets in life just lessons." - Jennifer Aniston
It is breath taking when you come across quotes where the author shows the importance of life, and what life means, not how we would like it to be. Yes, life is very much about our lessons, the lessons we need to learn.
Choosing our experiences
No matter how hard it is, we have a choice no matter our experiences, we can choose to look for the lessons, to work through those, to encounter better experiences so we can change, or be ‘a chip off the old block’ and continue to live what in effect is our parents' lives. It takes effort to learn our lessons, it takes effort to change.
I think most of us live our lives without thinking about or looking at our lessons. Those lessons are usually for someone else. Not everyone questions or looks inwards at themselves, or their experiences, or makes a pact with themselves that the life they have endured, isn’t the life they want to live moving forward.
Anticipating your lessons
Where you anticipate your lessons and you change, it will force others to have to see a new you, which can make you wholly unpopular. But changing yourself is something you should decide for yourself. If it's right for you, it is important to ignore the critics.
When others don’t embrace or want to see your change, it’s because they haven’t changed and you've become somewhat of a challenge.
I have heard this quote before and agree with you, its power is its simplicity.
One of life's lessons we must all pass, is learning to live without regrets so that we may live a peaceful life.
Yes, regret is the biggest reason we fail to live our lives. The issue is not the regret, the issue is us holding on to it as if our lives depended on it, particularly if we're holding on and we're failing to move on because of it.
Life offers us lessons. Once you learn the lesson, you will never have to live with regret. Regret is something you hold on to when you fail to learn the lesson.
We hate the fact that we have failed, but fail to understand the lesson, the reason why we have failed.
