We're into summer again and with annual holidays just around the corner, you’ll want to feel and be at your best.

These are my top tips for staying healthy:

  • Drinking fluids is important in the hot summer months, more so because it's easy to dehydrate. Not only does water keep the cells hydrated, but water helps maintain healthy muscles and bones and helps us get through those long summer nights, without feeling tired;
  • For those of us living in wetter climates, we may struggle with a Vitamin D deficiency. We know sun is the best natural source of Vitamin D, but it’s important to remember to take a balanced approach to sun exposure so that we stay safe;
  • Stay and keep yourself active, but if you’re not already active, go for walks instead of taking the bus or car, ride a bike;
  • Eat Rainbow coloured vegetables and add some fruit in for good measure, because they’re not only rich in vitamins, but are full of antioxidant and minerals too.

Finally, the summer is about finding ourselves and disconnecting from stress and stressful situations. It’s massively important we find time to rest and relax and unwind.

  1. There is great advice here especially as the weather has gotten much warmer in recent weeks.

    We could all do better in the hot weather to look after ourselves and we should bear your advice in mind.
