Something inspirational:

“We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another. The past, present, and future mingle and pull us backward, forward, or fix us in the present. We are made up of layers, cells, constellations.”

  1. I agree. We definitely don't grow according to our chronological age sometimes. Some people are mentally younger than their true age and some are older.

There is a couple In our community that are younger than I am and they look and act like they are 20 years older than me. Of course sometimes there are outside influences like drugs and alcohol and our lifestyle that will age us. Also our mental health can keep us young. I think being positive helps a lot.

Even with health problems if we think positively it will help with how young we feel. I have diabetes and that in itself will age a person physically, but I don't feel older or my age mentally and I certainly don't act my age.

I think it's all in how we perceive the ageing process. We can act our age and follow how society thinks we should act or we can be mentally younger and act younger. Keep moving and going.

    1. I agree with your thoughts on both. Certainly something for us to think about and yes absolutely true.

  2. Very true considering I may have grown up physically but not mentally. I had to make many adult decisions as a child which was kind of crazy considering I was a child!

Part of me still feels like I'm 3 and part of me feels like I'm older than dirt. I'm fighting so hard now to truly learn to be an adult and feel like I have the right to do so, since it is ultimately my life that I have to deal with.

Many parts of my life I wish I could pretend never happened, but I don't have a time machine to go back to change things!

Growth can be such a painful process!

    1. I think you're absolutely right and spot on Randy. Many children and I have seen it first hand too end up having to take on a parent's role because their parents aren't taking on the role themselves.

It's tough because it's impossible to go back and be that child again, but having to take on the adult role so early on means you miss out on your childhood and that's something we can never go back to.

Growing up with those circumstances can be a very painful process. Please don't see yourself as being responsible because you certainly aren't. You cannot change the past as you say but you can change how you perceive your past.

In your mind give the responsibility back to your parents. Don't own this, it's not yours to own.
