“There’s not a chance we’ll reach our full potential until we stop blaming each other and start practicing personal accountability.” – John Miller

Accountability isn't something that just happens, it’s something we need to make happen. We have a responsibility personally, to each other, and in our professional working lives. Accountability lies with us and is at the heart of our relationships. It is the foundation for trust.

Without accountability there is little trust and there is blame. Blaming others is choosing not to be accountable. Also, when we're not accountable, we may under-perform and fail to reach our full potential. Accountability starts with us and lies at our door. Without accountability, there is little room for potential.

We should understand the need to make improvements, both personally and professionally, to understand our issues, how we are responsible and personally accountable for those, and then set to change.

Whilst others may initially have been responsible for us, as the adult we are accountable and responsible for ourselves.

  1. Personal accountability is acceptance that our actions towards others reflect the person we want to be, and this requires mindfulness, responsibility and honesty.

We can all strive for these qualities and I can't think of anywhere better to start on achieving accountability than this website.

    1. Thank you. It's lovely that you think that. I absolutely love your first paragraph and agree. Yes, acceptance in us will always reflect an acceptance from us towards others.

Truthfully, without mindfulness and honesty there will be no accountability or responsibility and without us being accountable, there will be little room for long term potential.
