My book of insight, honesty and compassion, Cerebral Palsy: ‘A Story’ is written from the heart. As I break down my challenges, I try to be a voice for everyone.

Over the years, my experiences have forced me to stand back and to re-evaluate my life. When you can bring universal understanding to any piece of writing, you bring honesty, and also compassion.

In the book I express my feelings, in a way that allows others to understand for them to grasp their own experiences. But no matter your experiences, it’s how you talk and tackle your experiences that matter.

Recollections and Accountability

Cerebral Palsy: 'A Story' is a book of recollections and an accountability of my experiences. Above all, it is a book of inspiring messages, advocating resilience and change, and is perfect for the pandemic.

We ignore the very things that we need to deal with that can bring us peace. Instead, we shy away and avoid addressing the very things we need to address.

Burying our feelings makes things worse

As a small child, it was my coping mechanism to bury my feelings; but anything we put on the back burner resurfaces later and can start to make us ill. If the pandemic is teaching us one thing, it’s that we shouldn’t ignore the very things we need to deal with. Life may seem long, but it is in fact very short.

As the virus continues to turn the mirror on us, it is important to think about life and how you can challenge yourself to mentally move forward.

  1. I was trying to remember the things that happened in my childhood and I couldn't seem to recall them very well, which is a good thing.

I used to be haunted by so many things thanks to an extremely good memory, which finally seems to be fading with time. I also buried much of my childhood feelings that came out what I call sideways, feelings that I couldn't explain.

It resulted in addictive behaviors trying to suppress those feelings that always ended very badly. It's only recently that I have finally been able to deal with so many of these issues, which is making my life better.

I hope it will finally bring peace to my life which I desperately need in these trying times.

    1. Thanks Randy. I've heard it said we block out the experiences that hurt us the most. Given what you've been through, it is not surprising.

Whatever your recollections though, your parents will know what those are and how they contributed to what you had to deal with.

No matter what any of us deal with in our childhood or our life, accountability will always rest with the other person, regardless of whether they accept they are responsible. The universe knows.

Yes, the universe knows our struggles, it is also aware of what we deal with. Anyone walking away, or passing away, will never erase the deed.
