It is important for journalists to report accurately and ethically, without resorting to sensationalism or exaggeration. I have been on the receiving end of sensationalism journalism. Accurate reporting ensures that the public is informed with credible information and allows for a more constructive and meaningful dialogue on important issues.
Media organisations
In today's uncertain world, it is even more important for media organisations to hold their journalists to account, to provide the necessary resources and support to conduct responsible and ethical journalism.
It is important journalists prioritise thorough research, fact-checking and ethical reporting practices that serves the public interest, before publishing information, rather than solely focusing on sensational headlines for profit.
Opening the door to how journalism works
On publication of my first book, I was introduced to a PR company through my publishers, to help manage media coverage for my newly published book, to ensure the message of my book was effectively communicated to my audience. I was specific and made my intentions perfectly clear they were not to sensationalise any part of my interview, including the headlines. They promised it wouldn't happen. They lied. However, my experiences did open the door to understanding journalism, providing valuable insights into how information is presented and perceived.
Maintaining a balance between my personal blogs and my topical blogs is important, and shows my versatility and commitment to providing varied content for my readers. No matter the blog or topic, I take the time to provide accurate information and offer my audience a well-informed perspective. None of what I write is sensationalised, I merely present the facts as they are.
As a writer it is crucial to maintain accuracy
For all writers, is is crucial to maintain accuracy and integrity in any public content, especially when sharing information with others. My commitment to ensuring everything aligns with my standards before publication, reflects my dedication to my audience. I would never dream of sensationalising any of what I write and nothing ever gets published without due diligence and my keen eye to make sure I am happy with the content I am putting out.
The same cannot be said for all journalists. There are exceptions. My local newspaper covered the same story. They got it right.
