According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Self-care is "the ability of individuals, families, and communities to promote health, prevent disease, maintain health, and to cope with illness and disability with or without the support of a healthcare provider." Self-care
Self-care and mental health go hand in hand. The more you self-care, the more you actively deal with your mental health, the more proactive you become. When you self-care, you automatically look after your mental health.
The CP Diary
I can't fix other people's problems, but my blog, The CP Diary can 'open your eyes' to a life beyond what you deal with, what you think and feel. By actively taking control, and reading through my blogs, they can help you to identify your own wants and needs, to actively work on your mental health.
The importance of self-care
It is important to teach yourself the importance of self-care, allowing yourself to let go of carrying your emotions, emotions that have the ability to hurt. Although it's not realistic or possible to have or take control of your emotions 24/7, it is important to help yourself mentally and emotionally.
By learning to self-care, you're learning to assert control, which means you're tapping into your own wants and needs. It is important to be responsible for ourselves. In a world that is changed through Covid-19, it is time to self-care. It is time to deal with mental health, both of which are not on our radar.
Self-care is a relatively new concept for me and one that you have shown me was truly possible. I grew up in a world where I was forced to be a people pleaser whether I wanted to be or not.
Taking care of my own needs was highly discouraged, so it's no wonder it has taken me so long to even begin to feel comfortable with the idea.
I'm praying that I can continue to follow your example. It would be truly fantastic to have the chance to meet you in person one of these days to express my gratitude.
Thanks Randy. Yes, I get you, get that. That would be nice! I have faith in you and what is important, is doing what you want to do. It is okay to say no.
It is also okay to make an alternative suggestion if that's what you want to do. It may be the timing is out. But self-care and mental health need to be a priority.
In May I will be into my 14th year of writing for The CP Diary. In that time, I have seen a massive decline in mental health.
