The world is sleep walking into the new variant which hasn't made the rounds yet, but we know it's there.
Why the reluctance?
I don't get the reluctance, because unlike flu, the virus if you're unlucky can affect the heart, the brain, and the lungs. The person you’re standing next to in the supermarket/grocery store may have a cold that you think is simply a cold and it turns out they had Covid. With reinfections, long covid is a thing and it's debilitating.
Wearing a mask protects
With masks we stay protected, without masks we have no protection. Medical practices are now putting the pressure on the UK government to reintroduce masks. It could be the UK government back-track with pressure. As you protect yourself, you’re protecting the most vulnerable.
Covid-19 is still a threat
It's important to remember that Covid-19 is still a very real threat and we need to do everything we can to protect ourselves and those around us. Wearing a mask may seem like a small inconvenience, but it could make a big difference in preventing the spread of the virus in the fall/the winter months.
It's easy to become complacent
It's easy to become complacent and let our guard down, especially with the release of vaccines, but we need to remember that not everyone has access to them and we still have a responsibility to keep ourselves and others safe. So, let's all do our part and wear a mask, practice social distancing, and follow other guidelines to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.
