The CP Diary is made up of blogs on topics that speak to me, information that I have heard about, or read about, information that concerns or worries me, things that resonate; and also things that I have first hand experience on, written over a period of 13+ years. Heart-felt, all difficult to write.

Being tarred with another person’s brush means being unfairly judged or blamed for someone else's actions or characteristics. It implies that someone is associating you with negative qualities or behaviours, just because you are connected to someone who exhibits those qualities or behaviours.

Stereotyping and prejudice

This phrase can be used in a broader context, such as stereotyping or prejudice. But this type of generalisation is unfair because it perpetuates harmful stereotypes and discrimination. It is important to challenge stereotypes and unfair judgments by recognising the individuality of each person and not allow ourselves to make assumptions based on other people's actions or characteristics.

Promote fairness and understanding

By treating each person as an individual and considering their own qualities and behaviours, we promote fairness, understanding, and respect. It is crucial to challenge these stereotypes and biases by recognising and appreciating the uniqueness of each individual.

Promote a more inclusive and equitable society

It is important to promote a more inclusive and equitable society where people are not unfairly judged or blamed based on the actions of others. It is important people are assessed on their own merit. It is unfair to assume and generalise that someone's character or behaviour is the same as someone they are connected to. Everyone has their own distinct identity and should be judged accordingly.

It is also important to understand the actions behind why someone may continue to act in that way. In my next health and wellbeing blog, I will go into detail to explain how and why we need to understand the person behind the behaviour.
