Learn to let go. Close the chapter, or hang on and carry the weight of mental health and stress. We hold on to people, places, and memories – afraid, that we'll have nothing if we let go. Not always sure how to let go, thinking we have no real choice, or we're afraid to let go.
That's not true because what you will have is 'you' and that's good. Fighting for what you believe. Stop thinking that if you care enough, others will want you – that others will think and feel the same way about you.
Because sometimes, closing the chapter, and letting go is often the only way to move forward. That sometimes, despite your best endeavours, a chapter ends, mostly before you’re ready. That's absolutely true.
There’s a famous saying that goes: there is strength in holding on – but you know what? There is more power in knowing when to let go. Letting go means you're growing, you're speaking out for 'you' that doesn’t mean you've failed – it simply means recognising that something isn't right, or it isn't working for you and that's okay.
Mental health and healing is important. It's about emotional growth. It's ending toxic relationships, stepping away. It's self-love and letting go. It's forgiving yourself for a difficult life you had no control over. If it's grief, it's accepting grief. But letting go, although it can be uncomfortable – it’s also opening and freeing. You're paving the way for new opportunities because in that moment, something beautiful happens. You're allowing 'you' and new opportunities to emerge. You're bringing closure and healing.
It means you're paving the way for new people to come into your life. More importantly, you understand you're moving forward in life and that you are more than what you’ve left behind.
So, if you're holding on to something that is weighing you down, ask yourself whether holding on is the right thing to do. Is it bringing you peace? If the answer is no, then it's time to let go. Your mental health will thank you for it.
