The CP Diary covers a wide variety of topics that can be challenging to digest at times, but that's precisely what makes it valuable – by tackling complex subjects, The CP Diary aims to provide knowledge and insight to its readers, helping them gain a deeper understanding and stay informed. It gives you the bigger picture. It changes the way you get to think about your life.

My blog may not make for comfortable reading, but I also write about all of our realities, because they affect me. In 13+ years, The CP Diary continues to inform, explain, discuss – it finds resolution to a lot of what we all deal with. If it's out there in the media, it's covered on my blog. "The CP Diary" also raises awareness about what I deal with, Cerebral Palsy and continues to break down misconceptions and stigmas associated with the condition.

Educate Yourself

When it comes to misinformation, it is always a good idea to educate yourself. Due diligence on what we're being told in the media should be explored and assessed so you stay in control. Reading between the lines helps those grey areas. Also, educating yourself allows you to make more informed choices about what feels right and what is wrong; what works and what doesn't work; what you're prepared to tolerate, what you're not prepared to tolerate and what you need to change.

Understanding helps develop empathy and compassion

Understanding can also be beneficial in developing empathy and compassion towards others – as well as gaining knowledge about the world and looking for coping mechanisms on the information given in my blog. My writing is mostly based on my experiences within the framework of my over-riding spiritual values, my observations, my beliefs and interpersonal relationships.

Read my blog in 'small doses'

In 13+ years I have written a lot of blogs. If you find the blog/material challenging, perhaps you could read those in smaller doses and spend more time on the site. Expanding your knowledge base on different subjects is rewarding and can be enlightening because it puts you back in the driving seat and in control. It's important to stay informed on what is happening in the world. The world I grew up with, isn't the world I am seeing now. Forewarned is forearmed – it's important to know. Given what's happening in the world today and the challenges and difficulties we are all experiencing, it is important that we take positive steps to look after ourselves – my blog is the perfect start.

On my part, it's important I continue to put the effort in. I shall continue to remain open, honest and transparent, so that reading my blog means you remained informed – also continuing to make the blog insightful, current and informative.
