  1. Very true. I have certainly learned to think before I speak where certain family members are concerned.

    1. You're probably not alone. After a while it certainly becomes an art, but I have to say life is easier when that part of the relationship runs smoothly.

Without that, there is probably no relationship but that is so true of all relationships, don't you think?

  2. Oh how many times in my youth I have opened my mouth and inserted my foot.

Not only am I trying to be very keen with my words but my thoughts behind them as well.

    1. I'm so pleased Brian. It's never too late to change the way we do things, particularly as far as our words are concerned. Our words are the most powerful tool we have.

I feel it's always important to leave a positive lasting impression.

  3. I was always mindful of what I said to my son when he was a little boy. He had a friend that used to be very boastful. I told my son that God doesn't like people that brag.

Come to find out that now that my son wins tournaments, he is extremely modest. He doesn't even like it when his parents tell other people about his accomplishments.

It is amazing to find out the effect that parents words have on their kids!

    1. I think you're right Maria, we have to be mindful with our words. Our words can either encourage or discourage our kids, so it is important for us to get it right.

It's lovely that your son doesn't sing his own praises though, that's the way it should be. All parents love to talk about their children's accomplishments and I can understand why your son doesn't want you to talk about all of his accomplishments. To me it shows how grounded he is.
