When Others Reflect Our Growth

There is a powerful truth in the idea that unhealed parts of us can sometimes see the healed parts of others as a threat. Not because the healed person has done anything wrong, but because healing changes perception.

When we are still carrying wounds, we see the world through pain, fear, and defensiveness. Someone who is calm, grounded, and self-assured can feel confronting. Their peace may feel like rejection, their boundaries like distance, and their truth like judgement. Yet often, what is being triggered is not harm, but an invitation to heal.

A person who has done their healing doesn't need to prove or defend themselves. Their presence speaks for itself. In many ways, they serve as a mirror – reflecting back to those who aren't healed, what healing can look and feel like.

For those still healing, that reflection can feel uncomfortable. But with time, as healing unfolds, perspective softens, and the one once seen as the villain may instead be recognised as someone who helped light the way forward.

Healing reminds us that everyone we encounter can teach us something – especially those who trigger us the most. The invitation is not to blame the wound, but to listen to what it is asking us to understand.

If you are in a place of peace, stay caring and compassionate. And if you are still finding your way and looking to heal, stay open. In time, both can come to see that what once felt like opposition was simply part of the journey back to ourselves.
