Any food that we eat goes through a digestion process, but poor nutrition often means poor digestion, poor digestion means poor absorption and poor absorption means chronic problems with digestion.

To improve digestion the following guidelines may be helpful:

  • Reduce your consumption of wheat and increase fibre in the form of oats, vegetables and fruit;
  • Eat live organic low fat yoghurt, or soya at least twice a week;
  • Make time to sit down and take time over your meal;
  • Drink between 1.5 litres to 2 litres of either herbal teas, diluted fruit juice or water;
  • As mentioned previously make sure all food is chewed properly;
  • Take a Digestive Enzyme to help improve absorption;
  • A teaspoon of glutamine powder either before food or just before bed time, taken in water will help repair the gut lining;
  • A daily probiotic supplement containing Bifidobacteria and Lactobacillus acidophilus will also help.

Unfortunately, chronic problems with digestion never right themselves, what we normally have to do is change our lifestyles so that we don’t let the problems set in. Stress is another contributing factor. The more stressed we are, the more we will struggle with digestion issues.

Although we should limit stress, in the real world that's not always possible. Therefore we must take necessary measures to protect ourselves.
