It may be that we have experienced trauma, but we aren't sure or equate how we feel to trauma. We just know we’re not happy.

How many of us will come away from our childhood with our thoughts totally in tact? In my early 30’s when I stopped to think about how I really felt about things, I knew things weren't right.

If months have gone by and you’re still not feeling happy, it's time to think about how you really feel and if you're not coping, look for help. If you are having difficulties concentrating, or you have anxiety, or your memories feel uneasy, you could be dealing with trauma.

Asking for help is the first step to dealing with and coming through trauma. It is the first step to acknowledging that you are dealing with trauma.

  1. I think some people think their problem isn't that important enough to ask for help, or they don't want to bother someone with something they think would be silly. Great suggestions Ilana.
