My Self-affirmation Poem

"I need to remind myself that things will work out okay,
To understand that not every ripple I encounter means a storm is coming.
To trust the universe has my back.

To accept that living life in the slow lane is okay,
Because it’s giving me time to think and that’s okay.

To stop talking myself into worry and doubt, into circling the same thoughts.
To believe in myself and to park being hesitant about things.
That where I am is more than okay because it gives me time to think, to adjust.

To learn to step forward, even when the ground feels unsteady,
To breathe in each moment without fearing the next.
To remind myself that my strength is not in knowing the outcome,
But in trusting that I will whether whatever comes my way.

To accept the way my mind moves and the way I think,
For the way I feel, and for the weight of my thoughts.
To understand that not every hesitation is a weakness,
And to remember to pause before I leap.

To continue to honour with autism the way I see the world,
And to know that my truth, my voice, and my journey are all valid.
As a pleasing child, I aimed to please, now I please myself.

To finally find peace in the quiet spaces, and my written reflections,
To be true to myself, to continue to write about life as it comes,
So that I can live more comfortably, moving forward."
