Some of you may struggle more than others through the 'grieving process.' The grieving process is a cycle, and depends on how well you adapt following a loss. It's an individual process, sometimes influenced by its history, culture and social expectations.
Processing grief
It's always difficult to watch a relationship fade. There are things you want to say, things your loved ones may not say. After losing your loved one, there are things you may revisit, things you hold on to, things you also know you should let go of because they're not yours to carry.
The dynamics of a relationship
Time is a great healer on both sides, but it's not always what's said that keeps you stuck. It's the dynamics of the relationship that keeps you stuck, what they leave behind, the worry of what your loved one thinks. Not everyone is ready to sort 'their stuff' out before they leave, so you see it isn't just you that needs to work on 'stuff.'
Your loved ones have 'work to do'
In spirit, your loved ones will also have work to do, which may take time. The life they leave behind, doesn't die with them. They have lived, they had a relationship with you, earth side. They will need to address the relationship they leave behind. They're not free of fault or blame.
Like you need to address how you feel, their 'life stories' are recalled the other side of life for them to address. It's good to remember that the 'grief' you carry isn't always your grief. Like us, regardless of the situation, it is important to see everything through.
So, if you're struggling to cope following the loss of a loved one, the following may be helpful:
Just know you're not alone. Working through the grieving is hard. Many as a result may choose to ignore how they feel, and that's okay. Emotions may stagnate for a short while, but just remember to check in with your emotions from time to time; unprocessed grief can rear its head when you least expect.
I am pleased you have written about the grieving process. It's especially helpful for us to share this process with you, because we all go through grief.
You don't really know how you will cope with loss until you experience it and no two persons experiences will ever be the same, but reading about it and sharing those experiences is tremendously helpful.
Thanks. This is exactly why I write about these varied topics. You're right, no two people's experiences can be the same. Grief tends to shine a mirror on our relationships, therefore it is important to understand. I am pleased you find my blog helpful.
Also, we all take different experiences from our relationships, some of those experiences will be easier than others. It is important to be able to think about and work those through.
