We have all been touched by mental heal in the pandemic, and many of us are still having to deal with mental health issues. Governments ignoring the pandemic, resulting in them interfering with your mental health doesn't help, and the issues exacerbate. We should all be concerned that governments are ignoring the science.

Social media

Social media heard today from someone who was heading to hospital, having tried to take his own life. Feeling ashamed, he wanted people to know how he felt and I get him. He has nothing to be ashamed of. Politicians on the other hand, have every reason to feel ashamed, but they aren't.

Autism and Mental Health

I have autism and I struggle with mental health. I also write about mental health issues on my blog, the very issues that affect us all. I choose every day not to live in denial that I have mental health issues. Social media has become a platform for many of us who talk about issues, with undercurrents that are very much mental health related, they just don't give it a name.

Acknowledge your Mental Health

It is easy to see how many people are struggling, but we shouldn't live in denial and no one is free of mental health issues, or feeling out of their depth. Things happen, and sometimes those things are out of our control. It is important to think about how you feel, and to acknowledge the state of your mental health.

I grew up with mental struggles

When I was growing up, mental health wasn’t a thing because no one talked about it, but it was still there and if you struggled, you struggled alone and in silence, and although in 2022, mental health is out in the open, politics and society don’t mix well, and those with a predisposition to mental health issues, fare worse than those who generally do okay with their mental health, but may have felt out of their depth in the pandemic.

Not talking doesn't mean you won't struggle

But not talking about how you feel, doesn’t mean your struggles aren’t there. Politics around the world and in the pandemic is having an impact on people’s mental health. To acknowledge that is a start.

Social media is a sounding board for mental health

Social media has become a sounding board for mental health. You can hear the desperation as others struggle to comprehend. I struggle to comprehend also.

For anyone struggling with mental health or feeling suicidal, please reach out for help. You're not alone.

  1. Yes, it's a simple fact that we have all been affected by mental health in the pandemic. It's impossible not to have been.

The UK government's cuts of mental health services were shameful before the pandemic and now they are nothing short of a national disgrace.

Thankfully we can turn to your site and your books which continue to be a lifeline, as we continue to live through the 'parallel pandemic' of deteriorating mental health, particularly among the young.

There is help and support available but the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental health issues, is still stopping people from asking for help.

I would implore everyone to think about and to deal with their mental health. Your website is a good starting point.

    1. Yes, dealing with mental health is on-going, particularly for those who already have a pre-disposition to mental health issues.

I wholeheartedly agree with your response. Around the pandemic and while everything and everyone is quiet, there are people who continue to struggle with mental health.

We have all been affected by the pandemic, but while others may not mentally be connecting with how they feel, I do think they will also have been affected too. The pandemic is unprecedented. We may have all coped differently, but still we have all been affected.

I would implore people to take an interest in their mental health. It is lacking. Author royalties are going to charity, so that I can help them, help us.
