“The lack of a silver spoon has set you on a certain path, but you needn’t stay on it.” – Kingsman
Not every child is born with a silver spoon in their mouths. We have to make our lives work no matter how life starts out for us. Being born with a silver spoon isn't just a monetary thing that if you're born into a family who has money your life will work out. It is being lucky enough to have parents who care and who are prepared to steer you on the right path.
A different life
Through my own documented childhood difficulties, with the silver spoon I would have had a different life, even with a disability. I would have had the parental guidance to support me through school and college years. The opportunities for me to grow and thrive emotionally, alongside my disability would have been there.
Failing Ourselves
We fail ourselves, when we don't stop to think about our lives and what we need to do to move forward. We shouldn't wait to see what comes up, or for something to happen. The universe doesn't work like that unless something is fated.
It's true there may be certain events that trigger a thought process from us that help us to seek and change our path, but it's up to us to look to change, no one can do that for us.
If 2018 wasn’t your year, you now have another opportunity to approach 2019 with a new attitude. But this quote pretty much sums 2019 up for me. It's telling you it's time to steer your own course.
Yes, I definitely need to work on steering my own course, which is something I never really had the chance to do as a child.
I was brainwashed into being a people pleaser and always putting other people's needs first, so it's no wonder I kept getting into the same type of relationships, but just with different women.
I have to work on breaking this cycle before I end up repeating it over and over again. There isn't much that I want from 2019 other than to be free to live my own life and not feel so extremely guilty about it.
Thanks Randy. I'm not meaning for this to sound like a cliche Randy, but you're in the driving seat in 2019.
I was in a cycle myself for many years because I wasn't in a position to do anything about it. As soon as the opportunity arose, I chose to break the cycle. But it's important we all break our own cycle, if we want to live a new life.
You are free to live your own life and you don't have to feel guilty about it. I believe that if you can get past that Randy you can start a new life.
Silver spoon or not we all have the ability to make decisions, no matter how small and to try to be in charge of our own lives.
It's when we take the first step that we realise we can do it. Failing to take that first step keeps us where we are and reinforces our situation.
As you say its time for us to take control and make our own decisions, instead of letting others make them for us.
Yes, that's right. It is massively important we take the first step. But I can see how easy it is to continue to live the life we've lived and not change anything.
In the short-term that works, but in the longer term it can never work. The bottom line is that however we can find a way through we must.
Use 2019 as your year of change.
