I agree it does take great strength to hang in there and to also let go. I hung in my first marriage for months believing I could heal my husband but finally realized that I couldn't heal him, so I left the marriage.
My mom is hanging on with stage 4 breast cancer. She is a very strong woman and has been through the ringer. She was in remission for 15 years then it came back all because a doctor put her on estrogen. If I'd known about that before she started taking them I would have stopped it but it wasn't meant to be.
I think when we're in situations like this because of our beliefs, I think we are being tested. I have heard for a long time that God won't give you anything you can't handle, or put you in situations that you are not strong enough to handle.
My mom handles everything like a champ. She goes and goes. I guess that's where I get my energy to keep going from. She is an inspiration to so many people. Giving up doesn't mean you're a failure it only means you have done all that you can do and haven't the energy to do anymore. You've given it you're best.
Thank Lisa. This quote is great because it applies to almost every situation, as you have pointed out with your experiences in your response. Sometimes there comes a time where we need to accept and acknowledge that it's either time to move on or just let things be.
I like you Lisa don't believe any of us fail when we feel it's time. We cannot always change situations if they're not meant to be changed or other people and just have to be accepting of that.
I'm really not very good at letting things go since I had so much in my life that was just torn away from me. It caused a great amount of confusion as to when to let go and when to hang on!
I was spiritually broken as a child to the point where I would rather give something up than have it taken away from me. A prime example was when I went through a divorce and practically gave away everything I had worked so hard for her, rather than let my ex have any of it!
There have been so many times I have let things go in my life rather than fight that I've lost count. It has left so many voids in my life that I'm unsure of how to really fill in all the missing pieces.
Now, at this point, all I can do is try to learn the difference before my life is over and totally wasted!
My own belief Randy is that spiritually when we stop holding on to things we learn to grow through the experiences of letting go.
Although you consciously felt giving up instead of fighting for what you gave up was a weakness, I believe what you did showed courage and strength. It took me many years to let go of things.
I hope that things become clearer for you soon Randy and that you manage to work things out.
I believe the hardest part is knowing how to let go, but that for some it's not always that straight forward depending on what we have to deal with, which is stopping us from letting go. I believe that is different to just not letting go because we're too stubborn, or we don't see the need to let go.

We have to be strong enough to walk away.
I couldn't agree more with this simple saying.
I agree with it too.
She was a very wise lady. I read her columns all the time when I was younger.
She sounds a very wise lady. I also love to read anyone's work whose writing is inspirational.

I know that I hold on to things way too long and I'm working on it. There are so many things out of my control I know I can only control my reaction.
I like this quote and needed to hear it today.
Please don't be too hard on yourself.

I love this quote too. I'm pleased it helped you.
