Something inspirational:

Do you know someone who will just never accept help? Help is something they find hard to do, usually because they're either too self-sufficient or proud to want to ask for help.

So why not try to be generous to the person offering you help, by saying “yes that would be lovely.” Even if we are self-sufficient or proud, it will give others who want to help the opportunity.

It’s wonderful when others want to help, as much as it is important that you’re happy for them to help. If you are going to accept offers of help, accept gracefully, or there would be just no point in accepting.

  1. I have never been one to ask for help. I very seldom let others help when they offer. I just don't like the feeling of not being able to do things for myself.

It makes me feel like, "normal people can do it, why can't I?"

    1. I think we all have our reasons for not letting others help us and it usually depends on what we deal with. I honestly believe if we can separate the two issues we may be more inclined to accept help when it's offered. I don't think anyone asks because they feel we are incapable.

You and I are similar and we're both normal, we just have different things we deal with. Thanks for posting.

  2. I grew up in a world where asking for help was like one of the seven deadly sins.

This has been my biggest problem for many years, since I didn't ask for help even when I had no clue as to what I was doing.

I'm just now learning that it's okay to ask for help, even at times when I really don't want to.

    1. I'm pleased you know and are learning that it's okay to ask for help.

I was never offered help so subsequently never asked for help myself, but it's always important to ask if you need it.
