  1. Well, seeing as I'm not able to swim very well that analogy doesn't work well for me, but I get the general idea.

I have wasted far too much time waiting for something to happen in my life, so now I need to work more on focusing on the things that I can do, rather than staying focused on what I can't.

I'm 50 years old now, so I don't have a lot of time to waste anymore. Both my parents ended up with Dementia so the chances of me ending up with it too are pretty high.

I want to do more with the time I have available, so I can feel like I accomplished something in my life. I have so many books that I feel like I need to write.

    1. Thanks Tim. I love your response. Yes, when our own house is in order, we're happy to help put other people's house in order.

As your experiences show even through a difficult childhood we can still come through the other end a more balanced and stronger individual.

It is my wish for others too that they can see they can do the same.

    2. Thanks Randy. Yes, you're in the driving seat.

If there are things you want to do it's up to you to do those things, as it's up to all of us, to make things happen. We have control over our lifestyle, as much as we have control over what we choose to wear, or do throughout our week. In other words we call the shots.

I appreciate with both your parents having Dementia, the odds are higher, but that's like waiting for the condition to happen, accepting your fate without choosing to actively change anything to minimise the risk of you getting Dementia.

  2. Randy rightly says we mustn't wait for things to happen but we must bring about change ourselves. The difficult part is recognising the need to make things happen then we just have to "feel the fear" and do it anyway.

Every journey starts with small steps Randy.

    1. Yes, I'm all for small steps. I wouldn't even make a fuss on how small those steps were. I've known people complain their way through life and still not change anything. But I'm just wondering what's the point?

I agree with you and as you say, we must 'feel the fear.' What's the worst that can happen? Because even if we fail, we have tried.

That is a small but first step to change.
