Something inspirational:

“On some dimension or other, every event in life can be causing only one of two things: either it is good for you, or it is bringing up what you need to look at in order to create good for you.

Evolution is win-win…life is self-correcting.”

  1. This would be a very good way of looking at things, since most of my life it has always been good or bad, usually very bad.

I have watched the worst things happen to the best people, while the greatest things were happening to the worst people. Life definitely isn't always fair but I imagine my perception is something I need to look at.

My parents were very judgmental about a lot of those things, while not really doing much to improve their circumstances to make their lives easier. Kind of like those people who complain about seeing something they don't like on TV but not bothering to just change the channel.

They always acted like they were powerless to change things when it wouldn't have taken a whole lot of effort to do so. So, therefore it makes sense as to why I have lived the way I have, feeling trapped by that learned helplessness that I grew up with.

My fears, doubts and insecurities have kept me paralysed for so long while not realizing there were actually things I could do to change my life. While there are a lot of things I can't change like the past, I can work on focusing on the things that I can.

My problem has been learning the difference, which seems to be a monumental task to put it mildly. There was a definite pattern of events for me that kept repeating in my life, of things that I really needed to look at. I have been in the same type of relationships, repeatedly but just with different women.

Sadly, what I may have to do now, is something that I have always had the hardest time with, but may need to be done. It was just recently disclosed to me that I was diagnosed with a dependent personality disorder, which actually makes sense.

It just would have been nice if they had have mentioned this a long time ago. I'm not trying to use this as an excuse for my behaviours, but just trying to make the point that it would explain so much.

I don't think I have ever really had a normal relationship. In a lot of ways I kept thinking that it was what I deserved for the mistakes I made, plus being what I was so used to in the way I was treated.

I just have to try to remember that I am worthy and I don't have to tolerate being treated like a slave.

    1. Thanks Randy. Yes, no matter what our past, or what we've had to deal with or continue to deal with, it's up to make sure we correct what we need to correct.

I think it's important we evaluate things as we go along, either to continue or readdress what needs to be addressed. If our lives were easy, we wouldn't grow, wouldn't have things to strive for and wouldn't look to change anything.

As humans, we're supposed to evolve, but we stop ourselves because we feel it's too difficult. Deepak Chopra's quote gently reminds us.

  2. This is a great quote. We all have events to deal with, some bigger than others; but if we can look at these events in this way, then we start to change how we view them.

We can say "why me," or we can dust ourselves down and learn form them and then maybe the next one that comes along won't be so bad, as we will have changed how we deal with it.

    1. Thank you. Yes, I believe we can change how we see events and how we get to deal with them.

We tend to go into meltdown when things seem beyond our reach, but our issues are very much self-correcting. I agree with this quote. Issues are there simply because we need to address them. How we do that helps for a more positive outcome.

I believe we can create good just by dealing with and addressing our issues. We simply fail, because we choose to live in denial and ignore our issues.
