In the last 7 years, I have been faced with many challenging decisions that I liken to a fork in the road. A crossroad if you like.

A fork in the road reminds me that I have choices to make, it reminds me that I have lessons to learn that life isn’t all that it seems and that sometimes I need to make difficult choices.

A fork in the road also reminds me that sometimes I may need to stand back. It also reminds me that sometimes I need to re-assess. But even if there is a fork in the road, there is no reason why it will continue to go that way.

We have choices to stay where we are and work on ourselves, or we have the choice to do nothing, but spiral down because we’re emotionally weak, or we can find a way through our circumstances. I am choosing to find a way through.

  1. A fork in the road does mean to me that I have a choice to make.

I usually weigh the pro's and con's of each choice and then make my decision. If it turns out to be the wrong one I strike it up to a lesson learned.

Hind sight is 20/20 so we learn from it.

    1. Thanks Lisa. I'm glad you see a fork in the road as a choice; a lesson because that is exactly what it is.

Generally the majority of us will see how they could have changed things and done things differently in hindsight, but there are others who don't think about their circumstances in that way, so won't address those issues as lessons.

Like you I also believe in hindsight and how we can learn from hindsight experiences, but not all of us will.

  2. Sometimes you take a detour to avoid the forks in the road only to run into more forks in road, again and again.

I liken it to a maze, where we keep taking the wrong path before we find the right one. We fight our way through until we do. Sometimes it seems like lottie dotty and everybody are in our way.

You're right, we have choices to make and lessons to learn all the time and in the process we stand back and re-asses our lives, it’s a journey.

    1. Thanks Tim. Yes some of us will take a detour to avoid certain roads, but if it's meant to be it will be. Those of us who don't may live in denial and choose not to accept that what is happening isn't happening.

I think the fork in the road is a good thing. It helps us keep tabs on where we are. If we're able to stand back the fork in the road will help bring more clarity into our lives so we can take the right path.

Without that as you say Tim we'll end up in a maze or we'll go round in circles trying to find a way forward.
