Something inspirational:
“Be true to your own voice. Tell the stories that you need to tell. They will haunt you if you do not.”
J.G. MacLEOD
J.G. MacLeod once wrote: “Be true to your own voice. Tell the stories that you need to tell. They will haunt you if you do not.”
Those words stay with me because they echo my own experience of not being able to talk about my experiences. For struggling in school, for living with a disability – something I later learned was a disability.
For years, I carried my story silently. Writing for The CP Diary has shown me that telling these stories to those who are listening, not only helps me to make sense of my journey, but may also help others who feel the same loneliness, frustration, and isolation of sitting silently with their own stories.
It is important I sit in my truth that I am using my voice for myself – and a voice for the greater good for others too.
