It’s been a long and difficult road to get to where I am. There are days when I wonder at it all. My writing doesn't replace my trauma, it spanned so long, it merely sits alongside what I know and I am okay with that.
There is no doubt that without Cerebral Palsy: ‘A Story’ Finding the Calm After the Storm, I would still be fumbling around in the dark looking for answers. What happened to me became personal, even if it didn't start out that way.
Living with hurtful emotions
Throughout my childhood, my experiences created some very hurtful emotions. I often felt detached, as if what was happening to me was happening to a prototype of me. Trying to get to grips with a disability I didn’t know I had, even with my beliefs intact, meant I would never be able to understand 'me.' But it's not something just for me.
Trauma
When anyone goes through trauma, they fail to know and learn about themselves. It's now 11 years and I have become the person I am today. I am who I am because of my experiences. My blog helps me to understand and place my experiences. I now understand 'me' for the first time. My experiences didn't break me, they made me.
I am now equipped with fundamental tools to change how I am perceive my life moving forward.
My books deal with trauma and mental health. You can grab paperback and Kindle copies on Amazon, or through the following link https://linktr.ee/Ilana_Estelle
I would encourage everyone reading this website, to subscribe to the newsletter and better still, buy Ilana's amazing book, especially as it has been discounted.
It costs no more than a couple of coffees, but might just change how you think about your life. You can't say a latte can do that for you now can you?
Thanks for the thumbs up. Yes, I can understand why in Covid19 there is reluctance to pick up a non-fiction book.
But life doesn't just happen, even when we're out there and masks become voluntary, we still have 'us' to deal with.
I would implore people to buy it. Not just because it's my book and authors want others to read their work, but because it will change the way you think about your life moving forward and it's what we all need right now.
