  1. It sounds a lot like the Serenity Prayer we use in AA where we're supposed to ask for the serenity to accept the things we can't change, courage to change the things we can and the wisdom to know the difference.

It has taken me a long time to figure that out, since I'm a slow learner. I'm definitely trying to focus more on the things that I can change rather than dwell on the things I can't.

I have wasted far too many years wallowing in my pity pot, so I just want to make the best of the time I have left.

    1. Thanks Randy. Yes, I think both work. Personally I love the 'serenity prayer.'

The key is to understand. Once we have the understanding the more proactive we are, the better our life will become.

  2. These three things are the steps we must take in life to surpass obstacles. Accepting things you can't change is good, because there are definitely things that are beyond our control.

Fretting over them does us no good, so its best to leave things as they are and carry on. Knowing when to change the things we can will work only if it's changing things for the better. Improving things for ourselves, is our way of being responsible for our actions.

Following these three scenarios will help us tackle life, to work through the twists and turns that life throws at us.

    1. Thanks Maria. Your response is spot on. Yes, although it takes experience to recognise these things, it is well worth the effort.

Accepting things we can't change is something we all tend to hone in on. I spent a good chunk of my life revisiting my experiences until I began to understand what that actually meant.

It kept me stuck. But rather than revisiting our experiences and dwelling on those, it is better we focus on understanding what it really means to remain stuck, missing out on any potential opportunities.

We must find a way through and never give up hope. Over a period of time, I have learned to rely on my intuition and that paves the way forward for me.

It's that little voice inside our head, helping us find ways through.

  3. I completely agree with this quote and should have put it into practice many years ago. If something needs to be changed, then we should change it.

If we can't change something that we'd like to see changed, then it makes sense to just accept it and move on and if possible remove ourselves from that situation.

Stressing over something that we cant change never does any good.

    1. Thanks. Yes, but not everything that we want to change can be. I think we need to understand why and bring understanding on that.

For example, having someone in our life with narcissistic tendencies won't change, therefore we must. The things we can change will become obvious. The things we want to change but can't will also be obvious.

The stress comes from wanting something to happen that we know will never happen and not being able to accept that. But all stress does is lead to ill health.

      We must let go.
