I love this quote. I am reasonably certain that Marilyn Monroe was overwhelmed by a series of disappointments to write something so profound. It reveals how empty her life must have been, as her feelings resonate with many of us.
Our minds often become fractured by our experiences, but we gain wisdom from the most unpredictable things sometimes.

She definitely wasn't the typical 'dumb blonde' which so many people thought she was, even me at times! I'm guessing that she was a lost little girl trapped in a beautiful woman's body, who looked for love in all the wrong places.
She was probably a lot like my niece, who is travelling down that same road due to her Asperger's. She is also very smart, but very naive to how people are and the ways they behave. I had to learn many of those lessons the hard way, so I don't have near the amount of blind faith that Marilyn did about the world!
It was very sad that she took her own life but in a lot of ways I can understand why she did. Once a person is broken, it isn't always possible to put them back together!
I love her quotes and viewpoints on life. She was right on! There are some people that go through more challenges than others and there's always a reason why. We grow stronger from it.

Thanks Randy. Yes first impressions of a person isn't what it seems and shouldn't be. Having lived with insecurities myself I could see that Marilyn Monroe wasn't a 'dumb blonde' but insecure like many of us are.
My spiritual beliefs have always taught me to go beyond what I see, to look at the bigger picture of a person's life and that is what I continually do. It's a shame, the people who could have helped her, didn't help in the way they could have.
I'm sure she's completely at peace now. She was beautiful inside and out. Her naive qualities are exactly why the world fell in love with her.
This quote just goes to show how Marilyn's reputation for being a dumb blonde couldn't have been further from the truth. Maybe that suited her screen persona, but clearly there was much more to her.
It is such a shame that she didn't manage to live a longer and happier life.
Yes I couldn't agree more. Given her background and struggles as a child, she had childhood like qualities as an adult too. You couldn't help but want to mother her. Perhaps in a way that made her feel better about herself.
It's sad when anyone dies young. It's even sadder because with the right help I believe she could have lived longer. She was just crying out for help. Her words and legacy live on.
