  1. If anyone does this, they haven't moved on with their life and that's why they have wasted years, or either that person is living in the past, in which case they have wasted the past 30 years.

Either way, they need to move on with their life, accept the here and now and the future.

  2. Well, considering I'm getting closer to the 50 mark, it would only be fitting that this would apply to me to an extent.

I do feel like I have wasted the past 30 years. Other than my daughter, I don't feel like I accomplished a whole lot besides just existing. There are days when I can see the world differently but those are usually few and far between.

People seem to prefer seeing the world as they want to see it, so they're not really interested in changing. It's up to us to decide if we want to live like decent human beings or talking monkeys!

    1. Thanks Randy. From what you say in your response, this quote does apply to you, but I'm sure you're not alone. It's lovely that you see your daughter as an accomplishment, but I am sure you will have other things you have done that are also accomplishments.

As you so eloquently say in your last paragraph Randy, people will see the world they wish to see it, but it's also up to us change it.

  3. I think Muhammad Ali was exclusively referring to his political and social maturity at age 50 while looking back at himself at age 20, as opposed to what he had accomplished.

The substance of a person’s accomplishments is often seen through very narrow lenses and no one’s accomplishments are greater than another.

    1. Thanks Tim. I think we can only really measure our own accomplishments and it would be wrong for others to do that.

  4. I would hope that we all view the world differently at 50 than we did at 30, although it is sad to say, not all of us exhibit the benefit of the maturity of years.

    1. Thank you. I would hope so too, but I find it incredibly sad that not all of us will exhibit the benefit of maturity as we age.
