Growing up not knowing I had Cerebral Palsy has given me a sense of purpose, a purpose to find out what was wrong with me and a sharpened purpose of my need to know and understand my childhood experiences, so that I could finally bring truth to them.

It is in the darkest of moments that our lives can spur us on, to find out about ourselves and in turn then want to help others. Even through my anger I still wanted the best for others. That part of me has never changed.

We must always strive to bring about goodness, in ourselves and in the world. We cannot do the second successfully without making sure we're successful with the first. Both must be done with good grace and without self-justification. Our sense of purpose must concur with how the universe expects us to behave and must always be done for the right reasons.

People who constantly want to go out of their way to prioritise and help other people, usually do so because of a lack of self-esteem. We may often seek approval of others, as a means to avoid soul searching ourselves without realising. Like a reflecting mirror that doesn’t generate any light, only reflecting light from others.

Helping others will never be able to help us in the longer term, if we've neglected out own emotional health. We must introduce and create our own healthy self-concepts, so we're ready emotionally to help others. As a child, I spent my formative years in reflection so that as the adult I was able to put my experiences into play.

When we come to help others, unless we address our own emotional issues, those issues will continue to pull us down. As we address and quantify our issues, our sense of purpose will then be exactly as the universe directs for us.

  1. This blog encapsulates everything that is so positive about your writing. Your path was to lead you in this direction, to gain strength through your childhood experiences; and to help others as you do now.

I think you have been chosen to do this and we are all be grateful that you have.

    1. Thank you. Looking back, I very much believe the same thing. If things happen for a reason, then I wasn't supposed to know and therefore The CP Diary became that reason.

I am both grateful and humbled and grateful for my experiences through my writing; and am thankful for the continued support from all my Readers and from those who continually support me by contributing to my blogs through their responses; who I see as friends.

We stand united as we continue to support one another through a journey, I call life.

  2. For a long time I thought everybody was a fool but me, because I thought we were put on this earth to help each other. But we engage in a host of crimes against ourselves daily and we don't know how that started.

But what I do know Ilana, is that you give us a break from the madness and you always remind us of purpose.

    1. Awww thanks Tim. I try!! Our environment, upbringing and parenting has got a lot to do with that and think you're right, 'we are put on this earth to help each other.' You'd worked that out long before everyone else did, clearly.

I try to give myself a break from the madness too, so I make my blog's objective about purpose. I think purpose and hope combined brought me to this place with my blog. I've always thought like this.
