Actions speak louder than words. Some of us will fail to do, as our words tend to speak louder than our actions, with no intentions of an action in sight.

We’re masters at talking the talk, without acting on what we say. But there’s no point in talking, if we’re not prepared to act. If we respect and love our family, those thoughts must be backed up with respectful and loving actions. All words need to be backed by actions on the choices we make.

When we speak, but not act there will be a trust problem. Other have to be able to trust what we say through our actions. Also, if we don't re-affirm and reflect our words, words will become hollow and will come to mean very little.

  1. I agree, we shouldn't say anything we are not prepared to follow through in our deeds.

Your blog is especially pertinent given recent events around the EU referendum here in the UK. Politicians seem to think that lying to the public has become the norm, to pursue their own selfish political aims.

At the end of the day, we're all accountable and it makes sense as it is in our own interests, to both talk the talk and walk the walk, as you say.

    1. Of course Politicians will deny they speak anything other than the truth; but that's fine. As you say they're accountable as we are for ourselves.

I find it sad that we say lots of things but that we don't go far enough to back up what we say. What does that say about the person?

  2. Yes, actions do speak louder than words, especially considering the world I came from.

All I ever heard was a lot of words, but not a whole lot of action. You can only listen to so many broken promises before you don't believe what people are saying. Like you said, there are a lot of people who talk the talk; but when it comes down to it, don't get around to walking the walk.

Politicians are definitely famous for it, seeing as they say what people want to hear long enough to get elected, but then go on to do exactly what it is they want to do. Kind of what my parents always liked to do and they never seemed to notice how much it destroyed us every time they did!

I am trying so hard to change things, but as always it's easier said than done. I have been dealing with someone for a very long time, who loves to talk so much but never quite explains how she's going to do the things she says she is going to do; so maybe others could learn how to do it too.

There are so many things that I never learned how to do, so I need to work on figuring out what they are so that I can learn how to do them. I am a firm believer in that expression, since I have dealt with so many others who really don't and just pay a lot of lip service, when they really should be doing things to back up their words.

I'm hoping that I can really become a man of my word, so that I can feel like a decent human being and comfortable in my own skin!

    1. Yes a lot of truths Randy, but I'm sure those who behave in this way will have their own thoughts and opinions on whether they simply walk the walk or do both.

Perhaps people genuinely think they do and are surprised when we tell them; but I agree with you that we must back up our words with actions. It's not enough just to talk about things.

I used to know someone in school, who promised me things, but what she promised was never forthcoming. She always found an excuse for not acting on her promises.

I wonder if I ever caught up with her now whether she'd remember those times and her promises!

  3. Words are often used to make a lie sound respectable, which is why people devote so much effort to rhetoric.

But what a person doesn't say speaks louder than actions sometimes, just listen carefully.

    1. Thanks Tim. Yes absolutely. I believe that too. We often have to read between the lines to work things out, because words are sometimes deliberately missed, sometimes to protect us, sometimes not.
