Something inspirational:
“Don't let the expectations and opinions of other people affect your decisions. It's your life, not theirs. Do what matters most to you; do what makes you feel alive and happy. Don't let the expectations and ideas of others limit who you are. If you let others tell you who you are, you are living their reality — not yours. There is more to life than pleasing people. There is much more to life than following others' prescribed path. There is so much more to life than what you experience right now. You need to decide who you are for yourself. Become a whole being. Adventure.”
ROY T BENNETT
What is appropriate for other people may not be appropriate for me. This is also something I've noticed recently.
This Roy T Bennett quote makes you want to go somewhere and think about it for awhile.
Thanks Tim. Yes, this quote spoke to me, was made for me. As children we tend to have little say in the way our lives go. In the early years, we rely on our parents mainly, in the hope they have our backs.
As the adult, you're right Tim, 'what is appropriate for other people, may not be appropriate for me.' - I learned through other people's lessons, waiting for them to catch up, but they never did.
If only life was this simple. We don't live in a bubble and outside influences dictate our lives.
But I do agree with Tim, this quote makes you want to go somewhere to contemplate.
Thank you. It absolutely does, but it also shines a light on other people's behaviour and how their behaviour can interfere with our mental health.
If each of us used reflection to navigate our behaviour, we'd be living in an altogether different world, one that I would welcome.
At this point, it can't come soon enough.
