Something inspirational:

Walking lowers stress and promotes a feeling of calm. Walking gives us more energy to go about our day. It also helps promote better sleep. If you live far from work and you need to take a bus, why not get off early and walk the short distance back.

Walk into town on your lunch break, or if you’re not in town, take a walk around the block. If you’re out in the countryside, look around you. Look at the flowers, the butterflies, the colour of the leaves and all that nature has to offer.

Clear your mind and enjoy its tranquility.

12 comments on “Benefits of walking”

  1. I am starting to walk more with the puppy and am starting to feel a little bit calmer. I couldn't put my finger on it, but I think it is due to the walking. Nice topic!!

  2. I do a lot of walking at work and it's been very beneficial for me. I'm breathing better and it's improved my stamina.

  3. Walking is always a good thing if you happen to enjoy doing so. I haven't done a lot of walking recently due to a lot of issues, but I know it's something I should get back to. Now if only the weather will co-operate since it is November!

    1. I hope you manage to work through those issues Randy, I'm routing for you. You're completely right about the weather though, November isn't really the right time of year to walk, but being wrapped up warm like toast always helps! Thanks for posting.

  4. You are absolutely right about the extra exercise, even if it's just walking, it should make you feel better. I love exercising because I always feel better and more energized. I am also glad at what I was able to accomplish. It really does make a big difference in my day.

  5. I wish I could walk but I can't. I have to sit and figure out a different way to balance my energy. I have had a hard time doing that lately.

    1. Colleen, it must be hard for you, but maybe try and concentrate on the things you know you can do, so that you don't get upset by the things you can't.
