Actress Kristen Bell captures the reality on mental health perfectly in the following quote, reminding us that mental health challenges do not discriminate and can affect anyone, regardless of their circumstances or achievements:
"There is such an extreme stigma about mental health issues, and I can’t make heads or tails of why it exists. Anxiety and depression are impervious to accolades or achievements. Anyone can be affected, despite their level of success or their place on the food chain. In fact, there is a good chance you know someone who is struggling with it since nearly 20% of American adults face some form of mental illness in their lifetime. So why aren’t we talking about it?"

For 16 years, The CP Diary has been shining a light on mental health through my own experiences, challenging outdated attitudes and encouraging honest conversations about the realities of living mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. Over the years, I have sought to help others feel less alone and to demonstrate that mental health challenges can affect anyone, regardless of their circumstances.
While awareness has improved, stigma is still a significant barrier, preventing many people from speaking openly about their struggles, seeking support, or feeling understood by those around them. Too often, mental health conditions are dismissed, misunderstood, or treated differently from physical health conditions, leaving many individuals feeling isolated at a time when support matters most. Every conversation has the power to challenge misconceptions, encourage understanding, and remind someone they are not alone.
Talk about how you feel, that's all it takes. We ignore it at our peril, because when mental health issues are dismissed or ignored, the consequences can be life-changing – and sometimes life-ending.
