I was aware of my own issues as a child, but back in the day, I didn’t know it had anything to do with mental health.

But issues shouldn't be ignored because they can find you. The way you feel, your mood, your energy, how you function, how your thoughts make you feel. It’s the small changes, or feelings that ‘something isn’t quite right.’

In Covid-19, we can either deal with mental health or we can ignore it, but we will still have to deal with mental health. Mental health, whether we are aware, or how it may manifest, is something that we will have to deal with.

Mental health issues usually start in childhood, but can also happen to anyone at any age. Other signs may include, appetite changes, sleep problems, apathy, depression, being able to concentrate and feeling a certain nervousness.

In Covid-19 Mental Health and Mental Health issues have never been more evident, or more important. Mental Health isn't something to be ignored.

  1. As the pandemic continues to affect us all, it is not surprising that so many of us have experienced and continue to experience feelings of fear, worry and anxiety.

It is not uncommon for people to ignore their mental health issues, given the necessary stigma associated with talking about it.

The mental health impact of the pandemic was always going to be the one most likely to be ignored, but you are right, the cost it too high and we must all understand that we can improve our mental wellbeing.

Your website is my daily 'go-to' place where I can take time out and look after my physical and mental health. Also, your book Cerebral Palsy: A Story 'Finding the Calm After the Storm' is an amazing reference tool that is self-contained and is different to your website.

In Covid-19 it has never been more welcome and appropriate. I hope people will go out and buy it.

    1. Thank you. I know what's gone into the book, I know just how it can help each of us, I hope others will go out and buy it.

Mental health is one of those things we don't equate or see as our struggle and unless you know someone who struggles with mental health, it isn't always easy to understand mental health.

Covid-19 has brought up many issues around mental health, particularly our inability to mentally cope around its handling, loss of seeing our loved ones get sick and in some cases, losing a loved one to Covid.

Also, the world has seen many changes, which are not all for the better. Any change that we're not ready for, can mentally challenge our perceptions, on how we see ourselves and how we get to deal with 'life.'

We're fighting a disease we can't see but it's there. It is important we come together. If Covid is teaching us one thing, it is for the world to unite on many fronts, it's not just Covid.

Climate change is not only compromising the natural world it is compromising the human species too. And not surprisingly all of these issues will also have a bearing on our mental health too.
