I'm struggling under the weight of Eagle Syndrome diagnosis. I've also got problems with a jaw joint ligament issue resulting in an issue with my back teeth.

You know that feeling when you’ve had an anaesthetic and you’re waiting for that to reduce, but while you’re trying to eat you’re eating on your back teeth, while your gum's still swollen. That’s what I deal with full time.

Living in my own hell

I’ve gone from losing my twin to living in my own version of hell. No one expects to lose their twin and then have to live in continual pain. Now I'm struggling with headaches, neuralgia and earache and that creates brain fog, which doesn’t help with writing. I don't know whether the pain is coming from the problem with the styloid process, the styloid ligament, or the mouth ligament. My gut's going with the ligament, but it could be coming from both.

Eagle Syndrome and a swollen mouth ligament

So, I have Eagle Syndrome, but I also have a swollen jaw joint ligament problem, and those issues are unrelated. The swollen ligament is related to the problems with my back teeth. My ear pain could be Eagle Syndrome/and the swollen jaw ligament. The pain is on the left side and it seems to be coming from the swollen ligament, but ear pain is also synonymous with Eagle Syndrome. The hard part is resting it and making sure I avoid the ligament. Hard to do when I eat, talk and swallow.

Wikipedia highlights the condition but doesn’t cite the issue with the swollen ligament and the back teeth as being symptoms. The throbbing pain seems to be coming from the swollen ligament. Eagle Syndrome can also present with pain. The hard part is resting the ligament.

Night times

Night times are the worse. I start sleeping up in bed, and inevitably end up sleeping down the bed on my face and that causes pain in my jaw when I wake up. Today I thought I'd try a cold gel press to see if that helps elevate some of my headache and neuralgia pain and so far, it works better than the hot compress.

I've had to reinvent my eating, so I eat on my non-affected side. I need to continue to avoid the swollen jaw ligament. I spend my life trying to work around my health and that’s not easy. My mental health is continually up and down.

Over the last few weeks, I have been in flight and fight mode, trying to work things out with next to no help from the professionals.

  1. Boy, I wish that there was something I could do to help you out. I have been dealing with back pain and numb fingers after falling off the back of my truck.

I'm sure it has been extremely frustrating for you on top of everything else. Hopefully things will get better for both of us very soon, so we won't have to continue suffering like this.

    1. Thanks Randy. I appreciate the support. Sounds like you've been through your own nightmare also.

Here to support each other, I hope you feel better soon. Stay strong.

  2. This sounds an awful condition you're are having to cope with. You certainly didn't need this on top of losing your twin. Sending you some super positive healing your way.

    1. Two months after my twin died and this is what I have. I'm hoping that with my dogged determination, I can at least reduce its symptoms.

I have just started acupuncture and although it's early days for that I am also hoping it will go some way to help with healing.

I will of course continue to keep my readers informed. It helps me to find more of an acceptance on it.
