The reality of living through the pandemic is enormously difficult for us all and although I cannot prevent emotional storms from cropping up, with emotional validation I am learning how to relate to each challenging moment and thought.

Emotional Validation

It is important to have emotional validation. Through emotional validation, it is important to acknowledge each other’s feelings so that we're comfortable with our lives, with each other, and what we deal with.

It is because I deal with autism that I have found emotional validation difficult. In the pandemic, I now have fear and uncertainty to deal with. Now the pandemic has reinforced why my mental health and emotional wellbeing has never been so important. How you feel today and cope with the pandemic, is not how you may cope tomorrow.

Validation and feeling understood

Validation and feeling understood gives you and your life purpose. It also helps to regulate emotions, allowing you to mentally and emotionally function, so that you are able to protect yourself, to help maintain your wellbeing. Through emotional validation you should be able to stay in control of your life, so that you can live presently.

  1. We all need emotional validation. In the pandemic, it has become even more important, I agree with you.

Even if someone can't help us, them wanting to help is all it would take for us to have emotional validation, so that our struggles are validated.

    1. Thank you. Yes, and you're absolutely right. I am happy to leave the rest of your response with you.
