Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve had to work around a different perspective, a perspective that would give me an understanding of what I was dealing with, around a disability I didn't know I had.

When it comes to a life-changing scenario, any physical and mental challenge can transform us. It’s important to come to terms with what we deal with, because that way we’re more likely to cope better. When we cope better, we can think and be positive about what we deal with.

Always assess your circumstances from a different perspective, a perspective that helps you with your circumstances and an outcome you're comfortable with. Emotional setbacks are slightly harder, because they're not always recognised or understood by us.

That said, it’s important to stay and be positive with what we deal with: if we are ever faced with a physical or emotional challenge that becomes significant, we have to be able to adapt. Our first instinct is to want to revert back.

Sometimes we need to accept the life we had is gone. We have to learn how to deal with what's in the now and move on.

    1. Thanks Lisa. You're right, moving on isn't easy... but I'm just wondering whether it's the fact that we have a challenge to deal with that makes it more difficult or is it the challenge itself?

I think any change is difficult, but with a physical challenge, it becomes virtually impossible, but necessary if we're to move on with our lives.

      1. I think it may vary among people, whether it's the fact that we have a challenge to deal with or the challenge itself.

We get used to doing things a certain way and changing it may be the challenge, but the challenge may be good for us. We just have to get used to the idea of change.

  1. There is much to be said about the old saying, 'que sera, sera' meaning whatever will be will be and it's true.

As you say, it is important to have perspective and not dwell as that is usually negative and harmful, although I appreciate it can be difficult at times.

  2. I've never had an easy time accepting things and being able to move on like most people do!

There were so many life challenges that I had to face as a child in an adult way, when I had no idea how to do it. I've seen a lot of bad things happen to good people so I've been really resentful.

I know it's something I need to do but I can't say I'm always happy about it!

    1. Thanks Randy. I can understand why you're not happy about having to deal with it. There's a lot of things we have to go through emotionally, just to face even one challenge.

I know moving on is something you know you need to do Randy. I hope you manage.
