Having gone through life mentally and emotionally locked, I didn't connect with the fact that I was floundering, until the penny dropped, and I realised life was passing me by and I still didn't know what was wrong with me.

Feeling helpless

For years I felt helpless. Now in the pandemic, and I find I am struggling once again and wonder how many others are also floundering, because the life they have now isn’t the life they had; a life they don’t want, a life that has many destabilising factors.

Distress and uncertainty changes a person

But even through floundering, it is important to be kind. Distress and uncertainty changes people and in the pandemic we have all changed. You may flounder, when you’re being held accountable for something you did that you thought was fine, and then later find it wasn’t and you’re not sure how to move forward.

Have some compassion for yourself

If you are floundering, have some compassion for yourself and no matter how hard you find it, learn to stay present. Floundering can kick-start you into new opportunities, when you learn to work with your intuition.

Where you're floundering, you can still have control. Just remember to be okay with what is beyond your control. It is important to dig deep, to think about why you may be floundering.

Practice mindfulness

So, why not practice mindfulness? Mindfulness helps you to understand what you need to know. It can help you to figure things out. Let the uncertainty you feel, pull you from feeling helpless to mastering what you know. It is also important to make sure you’re mentally present and well intentioned.

Learn and Grow

Learn and grow because it's difficult to live any form of life successfully without it. From many years of experiences, and having done it myself, in my former years, and floundering now in Covid-19, given what UK Government have put me there, I am now stuck, until I can find a way through.
